DPS investigates Police Chief Jeff Gilbert

It has been confirmed by multiple sources that despite town mismanager Alex Taft's efforts at obstructing justice and delaying a proper criminal investigation (as per official town policy) DPS has assigned an investigator to the look into alleged criminal conduct of Quartzsite's Police Chief.

DPS has a separate  "major crimes division", and is considered by everyone but town "leaders" to be the proper authority to investigate other law enforcement entities.

If evidence of a crime is found, DPS has the ability to bring those findings to the FBI or STate Attorney General for prosecution.

As word spread around town today, concerned citizens wanted to know if they could take up a collection to rent the chief and his wife a moving van. But as one critic pointed out, "He wont have to pack, because where Gilbert's probably going, they'll issue him everything he needs!"

  1. Let's hope we get a REAL INVESTIGATION from them and not a whitewashed attempt at helping "one of our own". You know that thin blue line crap is a problem!

  2. I have heard the same thing through the “Cholla Telegraph.” However, will the DPS Investigator be like the last one, a personal friend and produce another “White Wash Investigation?” With this information being known, will Town Manager Alex Taft be forced to place Chief Jeff Gilbert on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of a true legally qualified agencies investigation into his alleged criminal activities?

Being so close to the border, shouldn’t Chief Jeff Gilbert have his Police ID, Badge, and Passport taken and a GPS tracking ankle bracelet be added to his attire? Inquiring minds want to know!

  5. DW & Roth you guys are idiots you rant and rave that Gilbert needs to be investigated by DPS and now that it's happening you fools complain that the investigation will be white washed and covered up. You guys need to stop speculating on what you believe is going to happen and let DPS conduct their investigation. I understand that you guys have been given a reason by Chief Gilbert to be paranoid but let DPS to do their job. If the allegations are true as i believe them to be there will be nothing that Jeff can do to worm his way out of the mess that he has created.

  7. Anonymous,

Your insults only fall upon experienced, educated, and first hand knowledge as to the “Modus Operandi” of Chief Jeff Gilbert. Only an idiot would turn a blind eye to Chief Jeff Gilbert’s criminal activities as Town Manager Alex Taft and others have done trying to protect him. I have been assured that no personal friend to Chief Jeff Gilbert is being assigned to the full un-bias criminal investigation by the DPS since my last post! It is up to a jury to determine Chief Jeff Gilbert’s guilt or innocence. The victims of Chief Jeff Gilbert only wish to arrange that opportunity and see justice done by the laws of the land. Something that Chief Jeff Gilbert has denied others time and time again!

Again the Question should be asked of Town Manager Alex Taft, “Why hasn’t Chief Jeff Gilbert been place upon ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE pending the DPS criminal investigation?”

“Modus operandi (plural modi operandi) is a Latin phrase, approximately translated as "mode of operating". The term is used to describe someone's habits or manner of working, their method of operating or functioning. In English, it is frequently shortened to M.O.

It is often used in police work when discussing a crime and addressing the methods employed by the perpetrators. It is also used in criminal profiling where it can help in finding clues to the offender's psychology It largely consists of examining the actions used by the individual(s) to execute the crime, prevent its detection and/or facilitate escape.

In the book Criminal Investigation, Berg explains that a suspect's modus operandi can help in identification, apprehension and/or repression. An M.O. file is an orderly method of recording and coding information designed to reveal habits, traits or practices of criminal suspects. This can then be used to aid in the eventual apprehension of the suspect(s).”

  9. When do all those RVs come to town for that huge gathering? Maybe a Boycott For Safety would encourage the locals to straighten out the mess. Nobody likes to pull into town where dirty cops rule.

  10. I wonder how that great defender of the constitution and America would feel,if the chief of the state police walked into her office and ordered her to s secret meeting. Hmmmmm,Ya think maybe the chief executive of the state might get just a wee bit miffed at that? Jan Brewer do your duty and appoint a fact finding team and dispatch them to Quartzsite NOW! Appoint through your attorney general a grand Jury and hold an open public hearing,.. Now that's what I would call justice and transparency.

  12. Extortion, Bribery, obstruction of justice, embezzlement, fraud, if any two of the allegations I am hearing can be proven then a R.I.C.O. charge would be forthcoming. The state has been very slow to respond, but a lot of this can be confirmed through banking records, so sooner or later we are going to get to the end of the money trail.
I can't believe that this is just a money corrupts situation, there has to be more to it.
